A holistic educator and researcher practising innovation and creative pedagogy. She has her doctorate from IIT Madras, Chennai and has several years of experience in research and education. Recipient of many national fellowships and awards, Poornima is interested in bringing about a change in the way we learn. ‘Learn how to learn’ is the motto of all her programs. Her Initiative called Agile Shaala, is an unique learning community where agile practices are used to make learning more effective. She has been an academic topper and one of those lucky ones to have received three gold medals from Dr. Abdul Kalam!

Bringing Agile to schools
Overview
For the first time in India, scrumban has been used in classrooms of Agile Shaala, an innovative learning community. Students here take the ownership of their learning and plan their work through practising agile principles like scrum and Kanban. Students between the age groups of 6 to 14 yrs of age have been able to reflect and improve their learning. This talk gives highlights on how Agile tools have empowered children to take ownership and handle “freedom of learning” with responsibility. The reflections on how agile principles have worked at all three levels: students, facilitators and the management team of the community.
